Construction Progress
As we were nearing the end of phase one and were working toward setting a reopening date for the Family Life Center, the contractor discovered additional issues within the truss system. Initially, we had hoped that targeted repairs to the existing trusses would resolve these concerns. However, a more extensive structural inspection revealed much broader issues than previously understood. After spending significant time assessing the entire roof truss system, our structural engineer determined that repairing the existing trusses would not be practical or cost-effective. The recommendation is now to replace the roof framing system entirely.
Although the Family Life Center has remained closed during this process, it is especially important that no one access the building as we continue working through these next steps. Safety remains our highest priority. To be clear, the wall reinforcement work already completed remains necessary and will carry forward into the reconstruction. None of that work has been lost. New structural drawings are now being prepared for full roof replacement. Once finalized, we will work with our contractors to determine the scope, cost, and timeline for this work.
While this development changes our immediate plans, it also brings clarity. As we continue moving forward in our Capital Campaign, the repairs and renewal of the Family Life Center will now become an even greater focus. This facility has long served as a space for fellowship, recreation, ministry events, and outreach. Our goal is not simply to restore what was damaged, but to strengthen and steward this space for years of future ministry. As additional clarity is gained, we will communicate any revisions to the Capital Campaign plans.
We are grateful for your prayers, patience, and support as we navigate this season together. In the spirit of Nehemiah, we are reminded: “Let us rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work (Nehemiah 2:18, ESV). We trust the Lord will guide us as we strengthen our hands for the good work ahead. Further updates will be shared as more information becomes available. In the meantime, we ask that you continue to refrain from entering the building as we work toward a safe and lasting solution.
